Merry Christmas

Last of the markets

We went into overdrive preparing for the Christmas market drive.
Two zines, framed screenprints and Christmas cards.
After three hectic markets, the shark decided to take a year off from markets!

October arrives

During October the shark held an exhibition at the city library, and the bear celebrated a milestone birthday.

Jazzing about - or is it yazzing?

We got ourselves out and about and saw some most experimental jazz by The Mute Canary Project at the Judith Wright Centre on Tuesday. Next time we might see it with less experimenting and more being normal. You can too here.

The best part about it was the set up. Like theatre in the round, only experimental jazz in the round. The room was the bomb. Seriously, if we didnt already have a reception venue I would be begging the bear to hire us this. But we may get some jazz - of the less experimental kind - at our reception.
The bear, who is the music afficionado (I have learnt through our relationship that I am tone deaf, and can't whistle a tune - "stop whistling, what was that?"), found it both wonderful and horrible. In the end, even ignorant I, could tell that it was getting pretty self indulged and going on for woefully ever. Break it down guys.

Where's the cheese

It's not that we haven't been doing anything. It's the opposite. Lots of things been doing. Last week we hit three markets with our stock, and launched the bear's improved cheese boards.
Jess has some very cute pics on her blog review here

After this big run of 'check the float, iron the tablecloths and pack some snacks...' I am valiantly trying to rest off my flu, and the bear is working the equivilant of two full time jobs and rehearsing with his band.

It's only a month till we jet off overseas on our first big jaunt together. I am very excited. The itinerary includes a wedding in a castle in Northern Ireland, our four year anniversary in Paris, beer and legoland in Germany, catching up with friends on a road trip from Luxembourg to Amsterdam and a stopover in Seoul.

drinking like a European and crafting like a Bride to be

Hello everyone!

This blog is pretty small still, but that is cool. I still like making posts for it. The bear and I have been having some very cruisy days. Although this blog was about getting out, we have been spending time in.

I am out of work once again, or should I say a full time artist again. I am having the time of my life with domestic duties, and daydreaming up new art projects. Reflectively I realise this will probably be the time of my life when I have the most time and control and choice. So I am really enjoying it. I've even started jogging again. For the most part I sleep all morning and stay up all night. I love the cool evenings in Brisbane. I get so many craft projects done then, and even more reading.
Above is a shot of one of the garlands I made for our engagement party (coming up this weekend). It features the little bird design at the top. I designed this for our wedding invite. I printed it onto some art paper offcuts and then threaded some hemp twine through. I have since changed this to a sage green ribbon.

Ahah, another delight of staying at home, and being greatly influenced by master chef, there is much cooking going on. And now to aid this, and prevent jealousy that both my sisters live in country Victoria near farmers markets, we have signed up for the food connect fruit and vegie boxes. You've probably seen these pics on my facebook, but here they are again ... showing an overwhelming amount of seasonal vege and herbs, and delicious sour dough bread (which barely lasted two days). I am still getting through the vege, and have decided tomorrow will have to be a spinach and ricotta lasagne.
Using the engagement party as an excuse we have purchased a variety of alcohol lately. Below is the sparkling I chose, its a NZ white, with delicious sharp passionfruit flavour. Alongside it is the prettiest gin bottle I have seen. I totally fell for the label. Consequently it came home too. The lid turned out to be a cork that slides back in. Fabulous.
And here is the bear's selection ... First Choice had a very amazing offer with these beers plus a pure blond max no calorie thing, for $12. The bear may come back and rate them.
... and not to be outdone I made up a batch of margarita - which rocked my socks. And of course was served with tacos. This is my new tray from Ikea.

Cheers!
